This is the full Tara River experience. Over three days you'll cover 55 km through the heart of the Tara Canyon — paddling the entire navigable stretch from Šćepan Polje, spending two nights in riverside camps that feel completely cut off from the modern world, and experiencing the river in its full range: wild morning rapids, afternoon floats under sheer cliff faces, and evenings so quiet you can hear the canyon breathe.
We consider this tour the most complete way to understand what the Balkans wilderness really is. It's not just rafting — it's three days of total immersion in one of Europe's last truly wild river gorges.
Arrive at Šćepan Polje by 09:00. Full briefing and kit fitting. Paddle the upper section with the biggest rapids of the trip — Rajkov Kamen, Brštanovica, and the first of the narrow gorge passages. Lunch on the river. Afternoon through the widening canyon. First riverside camp setup. Campfire dinner.
The middle section takes you through the most dramatic canyon walls — some sections over 1,300 m high. Morning paddle through the Tepca gorge, the narrowest and most beautiful stretch. Long swim in a deep emerald pool. Afternoon on the river with optional hiking up one of the side valleys. Second riverside camp. Traditional lamb roast dinner.
Final breakfast at camp. Lower canyon section — calmer but no less beautiful, with wide views and side streams to explore. Riverside farewell lunch. Take-out at Šćepan Polje by 15:00.
Night 1: A wide gravel bank after the upper rapids section, with canyon walls above. Night 2: Deeper in the canyon, near the Tepca gorge — the most dramatic campsite on the route. Both camps include two-person tents, sleeping bags, foam mats, and a headlamp. Meals are cooked over open fire both evenings: Day 2 features a traditional whole lamb roast — one of the highlights guests mention most. No facilities beyond the river itself.

The 3-day covers the full river — including the Tepca Gorge section which is the most dramatic stretch and only accessible on the longer trip. You also get a second campfire evening and more time to swim, explore side valleys, and settle into the canyon's rhythm. Most guests who've done the 2-day come back for the 3-day.
Yes — same river, same guides, just more days on the water. You'll be more confident by Day 2. The pacing is relaxed and there's no pressure to be fast or technical.
One of our guides carries a GoPro and films throughout the trip. We compile a short highlight reel (3–5 min) and share it with the group via WeTransfer within 2 weeks of the tour.
We can arrange early extraction at the Day 2 point with advance notice. There's a small logistics cost. Discuss this when booking if it might be relevant.
